Exclusive Interview: YNR Spark

Sonus Magazine presents an exclusive interview with London Emo Hip-Hop artist, YNR Spark. After our interview, check out their socials links and creative works!

1. What made you decide to jump into the music industry or music business?

What made me jump into the music industry is to escape all this negative shit I been doing and seeing. Music is my way of escaping reality I won’t lie and it feels good because I don’t have to deal with a lot of fake people!

2. What do you think makes you stand out from all the other aspiring and upcoming artists in your genre of music?

Look at my style, look at my appearance, look at the way I carrying myself. I don’t think I’m like others because I tend to look different from other people. I wouldn’t care what others think about me because at the end of the day I’m here to make myself happy!

3. How would you describe the music that you typically create?

I would describe it as sad with hella vibe to it. I just be making music that I like and half of the time it’s the most weirdest time I make music. Whatever comes to my head is whatever I’m going to talk about in my music. It’s mostly about heartbroken type of music.

4. What do you think is your biggest Advantage and your biggest Disadvantage about being an Indie artist?

My biggest advantage about being an artist is that I get my way with things for instance, if I want to get sponsored by a company I can easily do that because they know I got something to provide for their company which is fans. I can get them buyers easily while I just get free stuff from them. The disadvantage about being an artist is that you get to a point where you get a lot of fans and you wouldn’t know which one will like you for who you are.

5. Do you prefer the Independent route or would you rather sign to a major record label, and why?

I prefer the independent route I won’t cap. Signing to a label seems long and I heard a lot of bad things about them so I try to not get myself in that situation again.

6. Out of all the songs you’ve released, what do you think is your Best song and why?

I would say K-Tokyohea and broken love is my best song. People like it because I used a different sounding and also people can feel the lyrics.

7. Who would you most like to collaborate with, whether its an artist, DJ or Producer? Why?

I always wanted to collab with lil tracy or like uzi vert. I know one I’ll get the chance to collab with them so I just gotta keep praying for it.

8. Between creating in the studio OR performing live on stage, which is your most enjoyable one and why?

I feel like it’s fun in the studio because it’s just you and your producer in the studio so you can make hella mistakes in there and just laugh about it. Half of the time I just play PS4 while I’m on the studio.

9. During your entire journey through the music business, what would you consider your Worst experience?

I would say my bad experience is when my manager scammed me for 3-5k but I ain’t finna go in deep with that experience.

10. What would you consider your most successful or proudest moment in your music career, so far?

My proudest moment is when a film company asked me if they can feature one of my music. I never had the opportunity in my entire life so I was happy about it.

11. If you could go open a show for any artist who would it be?

Anyone from my music team tbh. I would open a show for any YNR member.

12. What inspires you the most about the music industry these days?

Nothing really inspires me I won’t lie, but I just be going with the flow that’s all.

13. How would you describe your creative process when making a song?

I always have to listen to the beat. The beat is the most important thing so if the beat is fire then I know for sure the song finna turn fire. I just freestyle half of the time to the beat. I feel like it’s easier for me to make fire songs when I do that.

14. In your own opinion, What is the current music scene like in your local area?

In my local area we listen to hella drill and trap music so those two genre are hella popular where I’m at. I don’t like none of those genre so I like to be unique with my music.

15. What is your latest release and where fans can find it?

My latest release is called K-Tokyohea and it’s available on every platform. I head to delete it by accident because some film company wanted my other song so I deleted the wrong song but its back up now on every platform.

16. What what can fans expect to see from you in the coming months or even years?

Y’all will see more music and more music video from me. This is the beginning of something new!
