Absurd Heartbreak Rides The Vibes With “The Maestro” EP

Emerging Sacramento based artist Absurd Heartbreak just dropped his lucid 6 track RnB EP “The Maestro”. In his own words, he described it as an EP combining the genres of Alternative R&B, Emo Rap, Bedroom Pop and Pop Trap.

AbsurdHeartbreak – The Maestro EP Cover

AbsurdHeartbreak went in-depth with Sonus Magazine to talk about the EP, such as what you will hear when you give it a listen, the work that went into it, and the meaning behind it all.

The EP was given it’s name because when Absurd thinks of the name “Maestro”, he believes in an artist who has range and is not afraid to experiment, and that is what this project represents. With a wide range of features such as artists like QueenK, Lul Curls, Brizzy, Dnd Roxy, and the debut of his very own cousin Chris (Gritz on SoundCloud). From the music down to the artwork, the style for the EP cover in itself was influence by anime and eery track matches the a vibe pertaining to the artwork.

Track 1 is heavily inspired by Ariana Grande’s “Thank U, Next” and her Positions album respectively, bringing the R&B Pop sound to life as the transition to track 2, “I Wish” takes on an Alternative R&B and Trapsoul sound, inspired by Toronto artists like The Weeknd and PARTYNEXTDOOR.

Track 3, featuring Lul Curls was a track heavily influenced by the Bedroom Pop sound, and in Absurd’s words, “she did a great job on the track”, citing her beautiful vocals. Track 4,”Perfect” serves a vocal range intermission and interlude, being the longest track on the project, with Absurd Heartbreak showing off what his voice can do. Track 5, “Splash II” took a detour from the rest of the EP’s chill vibe for a more “club strong” approach, that everyone is sure to get up and rock with.

Finally, we come to Track 6, the final track of the project: “Pain”. This song brings you back down to earth, inspired by the likes of the late Juice Wrld and Emo Rap entirely. Dnd Roxy made his presence known on this track, wearing his heart on his sleeve alongside AbsurdHeartbreak in this pain and heartfelt vibe.

The Youtube version comes with a bonus track “Vitamin D”, a Lofi-R&B song inspired by Neo-Soul music. Our final review of this EP, a very diverse tracklist and vibe, along with many great upcoming artists, each with high amounts of potential.
