Drake Seemingly Confirms July Arrest in Sweden

Back in July 2022, rapper and songwriter Drake was rumoured to have been arrested in Stockholm, Sweden. His team denied those rumours at the time, but the rapper has seemingly confirmed the rumours through a post on Instagram.

In an innocuous New Years Eve post that included several photos from the previous year, the rapper used one video that seemed to have confirmed an arrest for marijuana possession in a Stockholm nightclub that was then dismissed as speculation. Nevertheless, this would go viral during the first breaking of the news, as #FreeDrake trended on Twitter.

Drake’s representatives denied this story, claiming he was in his hotel during the alleged arrest date. Drake would fuel this story more in the coming weeks, posting an image of a notice from Swedish police in a now-deleted collection of pictures from a trip to Europe. In his collaboration with 21 Savage, Her Loss, released in November 2022, Drake referenced a “Swedish jail cell”

This newly released 8 second cellphone footage seems to be major confirmation of this story. Although the face of the arrested is not fully seen, it is widely assumed to be Drake based on his signature haircut and the context of the post. The Toronto rapper has not yet confirmed the details of the arrest aside from vague lyrics and social media posts.
